NVIDIA announced on Monday that it will start building plans for a mill that will initiate the start of supercomputers in the USA. Effectively starting a supply chain in the US by building those supercomputers here!
“The engines of the world’s AI infrastructure are being built in the United States for the first time,” Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang said in a statement. “Adding American manufacturing helps us better meet the incredible and growing demand for AI chips and supercomputers, strengthens our supply chain and boosts our resiliency.”
The company said it has commissioned more than one million square feet of manufacturing space to build its Blackwell chips in Arizona and AI supercomputers in Houston and Dallas, Texas. Nvidia expects mass production at both Texas plants to ramp up in the next 12 to 15 months.
Nvidia’s announcement comes amid a flurry of tariff announcements from President Donald Trump. Donald Trump was expected to unveil a separate so-called semiconductor tariff after exempting most electronics from tariffs on Chinese products on Friday.
